Homeless individuals and families have a right to shelter in the City of New York. If you are currently homeless, you can seek assistance at the intake shelters listed below. If you have difficulty applying for shelter or in receiving a shelter bed, or have questions about shelter, please come into the Crisis Intervention Program at the Coalition for the Homeless. ***Effective Tuesday, May 3, 2011, the Prevention Assistance & Temporary Housing (PATH) intake center for homeless families with children will operate from its new location at 151 East 151st Street in the Bronx.

Prevention and Temporary Housing (PATH)

***Effective Tuesday, May 3, 2011, the Prevention Assistance & Temporary Housing (PATH) intake center will operate from its new location at 151 East 151st Street in the Bronx.

Subway: Take the 2, 4, or 5 train to 149th Street/Grand Concourse. Walk north on Grand Concourse two blocks, to E. 151st Street and turn left. Walk two blocks to Walton Avenue. The PATH office is located at the corner on your right.

Are you in need of assistance with your shelter placement or application for shelter? 


The Coalition's Crisis Intervention Program provides same-day, walk-in help for New Yorkers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. No appointment is necessary. Our counselors and advocates are available five days each week. However, because we are limited in the daily number of clients we can serve, please arrive at our offices, located at 129 Fulton Street in lower Manhattan, before 9am to sign up and receive assistance on a first-come, first serve basis.

We provide assistance and advocacy with:
• Problems at shelters, intake centers, and at PATH
• Benefits (Public Assistance, Food Stamps, SSI/SSD, Medicaid, etc.)
• Establishing a mailing address
• Applications for housing assistance (Section 8, public housing, supportive housing, etc.)

We also provide referrals for:
• Shelter

• Clothing
• Food pantry
• Legal Services
• Counseling
• Detox and Addiction Treatment


• Job Training
• Medical and Mental Health Services
• Domestic Violence Counseling
• Assistance with ID
• Immigration Services
• Other Services

Directions:
Take the 2, 3, 4, 5, J, or Z trains to Fulton Street station or the A or C train to Broadway/Nassau Street station. Metrocards will be provided for your return trip.
